| Rivak's cutting edge approach to fitness and nutrition opened up my potential to new levels. For years, I have struggled to establish proper fitness goals. Boy I was mistaken. For years, I had neglected cardio, core and interval training, and neglected what I really was looking for. That was a lean athletic body. My favorite activity/sport is surfing, so Rivak trained me like a swimmer. For a few years I tried, without success, to get my boyfriend to train with me in the gym. I really wanted fitness to be among the things we had in common. After working with Rivak for three months, my body fat levels plummeted from a obese high of 33% to a low athletic 8%. In the beginning I informed Rivak of my needs and goals and he made sure I reached them. The workouts were not easy. But Rivaks motivation and guidance pushed me through many sticking points. My body now accepts the challenge of the workouts. Before I met Rivak Hoffman, my dietary intake was approximately 4000 calories, which was composed primarily of beer and chips. I was left with a severe balance problem after a traumatic hip fracture. The medical profession (neurologists) diagnosed "spinal stenosis" and recommended sophisticated multilevel back surgery as a possible solution. I chose the holistic route. Wow! I never imagined I would ever get back into such great shape this late in my life. In September I road my first century bicycle ride (106 miles), in October I road in the MS150 Bike Ride (150 miles), and in December I did my first Triathlon. When I turned 58, I finally admitted that I was fat and out of shape. I blamed it on my 140-mile commute from Carlsbad to Long Beach, but that wasn’t the real problem. I finally realized that I would be in the same shape at age 59, age 60, and for the rest of my life if I didn’t do something. Fortunately, I found Oxana Petrova. I had not been happy with my physical appearance and fitness test scores in the military for a long time. | I am 53 years old and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis when I was 18. For approximately 15 years I was unable to do any level of exercise due to frequent swelling in the knees, deteriorating hand and elbow joints and a damaged cervical spine. | This was yesterday. She's so funny! Well--I had to report this to you, because I'm so happy with my current physical state. Before I got pregnant, I was 123 lbs (about 3-5 lbs heavier than I prefer to be, but that's not bad). I got on my scale yesterday (5 days after giving birth) and weighed in at 125. Unbelievable! I haven't actually tried, but I'm sure I could fit into my old jeans right now! The labor went well too--12 hours total and I only had to push for an hour of that (which is apparently short for a first-timer). My OB was impressed. Also, compared to the other ladies I saw on the post-partum ward, I'm moving around much more easily. I'm taking it easy, but I feel fully capable and in no pain. | I am 57 years old and until age 45 never had a weight problem. In January of 2007, I was tipping the scale at 210 pounds, my cholesterol was skyrocketing, my blood sugar levels were unsatisfactory, and my dress size 18 was beginning to feel tight. After a very depressing meeting with my physician it was clear I had to do something about my weight problem.Initially, I started a diet program and lost some weight;However, it was not enough and I was becoming desperate. I had tried almost everything, and was running out of options. Although still dieting I had stopped losing weight and my cloths were still very uncomfortable. My doctor had told me to lose weight,but not how successful weight loss is accomplished. It was time to find a personal trainer. My search began on the internet when miraculously up popped Rivak Hoffman on my computer screen. I had known Rivak when he was working as a Medical Researcher at UC Shiley Eye Center but had not spoken to him for years. I knew he was an honest hardworking individual. I was needing to find an exercise specialist/trainer to strengthen my core lower back muscles, shoulders, arms and thigh muscles, which have degenerated from a very rare disease called polymyositis. For 13 years I have watched my once, very slim and fitness body, gradually become ravaged by the destruction of muscle mass, leaving me unable to climb stairs, walk without a cane and always using a wheelchair when outside the home. By chance, I found the link to Somagensis. A call and a response from Rivak, was the beginning of an incredible journey to wellness and muscle rejuvenation. | I’ve been in general fitness training with Rivak Hoffman for about a year. I can honestly say it has marked a turning point in my life. This is much more than an intense workout session. Sure, I’ve lost body fat, and built up my endurance and strength. More importantly, I’ve also gained insight into the aging process, and how to combat it. I am in my late ‘50’s and have changed from a sedentary person prone to aches and acute tendonitis from participating in casual sports, to a more conditioned man, probably in better shape than I was in college. | I’ve been working with Oxana for approximately three months.
Even though our sessions begin at 6:00 AM – an ungodly hour – I really look forward to seeing her.
She’s fun, she’s smart and she knows what she’s doing.
She knows just how to push me when I’m tired and feel like I can’t do one more lunge or squat.
She’s a great motivator and a wonderful role model.
Since seeing Oxana, I’ve lost more than 6% body fat and inches off every part of my body!
I feel stronger and look better.
And, I owe it all to Oxana.

| I’ve been training with Oxana from Somagenesis Health & Fitness twice a week for the last 10 months. I’ve had amazing results and I’m thrilled! I lost a total of 11 pounds, but more importantly, I lost 12% of body fat. That’s incredible. I lost a total of 18.8 total pounds of body fat. So that means I actually gained almost 8 pounds of muscle and it shows. Even my size 4 jeans are too big on me and I had to buy size 2. I am now at my goal weight.
The change in my measurements is equally impressive. I lost 3.5” from my waist and hips. And 3” from my thighs.
I have really enjoyed working out with Oxana. Because I started around the holidays, I initially had minimal improvements. I was traveling a lot, eating out constantly and attending lots of parties. But I didn’t gain weight during this time as most people do. I was a bit frustrated, but Oxana kept encouraging me to push myself. Eventually, I was able to see the difference in both how my clothing fit and increased strength. Exercises that were impossible to do in the beginning, are now easy and we’ve had to find new ways to challenge me.
When I started with Oxana, I had some limitations due to on-going arm injuries. I have been in and out of physical therapy for the last several years. Despite my limited mobility, she was able to find exercises that I was able to do that strengthen my arms. I’ve had noticeable improvements and have not had many flair-ups of the old problem.
Also, my core strength was very weak when we started. Oxana kept trying different exercises until we found some that I was able to do. She was very inventive! There were times that I was so frustrated that I couldn’t do an exercise. But she was always able to find one that I could do.
Oxana is friendly and encouraging. She pushes me in a gentle, yet direct manner. She doesn’t yell and scream like a drill sergeant, but yet somehow she pushes me beyond what I think I can do. I am so glad that I found Oxana and Somagenesis Health & Fitness!
